Sutton Curling Club

Serving the community and curlers of Keswick, Sutton, Pefferlaw, Jacksons Point, Willow Beach, Virginia, Baldwin and the rest of Georgina since 1943! We offer recreational leagues catering to all curling levels. No experience is necessary, just a desire to have fun and socialize. Each year we host a number of very successful bonspiels, as well as our regular league curling throughout the October to April curling season.

• Daytime curling is on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Drawmasters TBD
• Monday Men’s will runs at 6:30 pm and 9:00 pm for a two-draw league, or 7:15 pm for a one-draw league. Drawmaster – Rob Menzies
• Tuesday is mixed team entry, with draw times at 6:30 pm and 9:00 pm. Drawmaster – Barry Dell
• Wednesday Ladies runs at 6:30 pm and 9:00 pm for a two-draw league, or 7:15 pm for a one-draw league. Drawmistress – Andrea Tedder-Riddle
• Thursday
  • Afternoon is an individual or team-entry men’s league. The draw time is set for 2:00 pm, with the possibility of a later draw depending on Thursday evening numbers. Drawmaster – Steve Dover
  • Evening is an individual or team-entry men’s league. Draw times will be 6:30 pm and 9:00 pm for a two-draw league, or 7:15 pm for a one-draw league. Drawmaster – Derek Rosien
• Friday
  • Afternoon is an open tag league. The draw time is set for 2:00 pm, with the possibility of an earlier draw depending on Friday evening numbers. Drawmistresses – Lynda Howe & Kitty Mitchel
  • Evening are our always-popular mixed league. Draw times will be 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm for a two-draw league, or 5:30 pm, 7:30 pm, and 9:30 pm for a three-draw league. Drawmaster – Shawn Hinchley
• Sunday
  • Morning doubles curling runs at 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. Drawmaster – Derek Rosien
  • Afternoon youth curling , with Little Rocks for ages 7 to 12 and Bantams/Juniors for ages 13 to 19 curling from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Hayley Frizzell will continue to lead the program with support from club members.

Membership Category

The Sutton Curling Club officially began in 1943 with the first curling in the Sutton Arena. The Original Curling Club was built in 1950 with 3 sheets of ice and a small club house.

Some important milestones and events:

In 1970 our club house was enlarged, providing an upstairs lounge and a kitchen.

In 1983 the building was rebuilt and a fourth sheet of ice was added.

In 1995 the lounge area was completely renovated and a bar and kitchen were added.

In 2005 the ice making plant was completely replaced and a state of the art dehumidifier was added with the help of The Ontario Trillium Foundation.

Today we have a strong membership and host a number of very successful bonspiels as well as our regular league curling during our October to April season.
